Starting in 2016, maple syrup sold in the United States and Canada will adopt a new grading system. All maple syrup sold across North America will be labeled the same and graded in one of 4 categories: Golden, Amber, Dark, and Very Dark. This gives consumers a better idea of what kind of maple syrup they’re buying, no matter where they are. The graphic below is a better demonstration of these different grades.

The Taste of Ontario
Most Ontario maple operations harvest only one sugar bush. We know that due to soil conditions, local weather trends and countless other factors each woodlot has its own unique maple flavor. At Shady Grove we harvest sap from 14 woodlots.
These woodlots are spread out spanning much of south central Ontario. All the sap runs harvested from these sugar bushes are trucked to our home farm where it is blended and processed into maple syrup. This gives you the consumer the full flavor of the Ontario maple harvest!
As of 2016, our maple syrup is Certified Organic.
